Detailed installation walkthrough

Follow these steps to install and activate the extension. Takes under five minutes.

Before you install, check these first

Make sure you have all four ready before you start.

Chrome browser

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, or any Chromium-based browser.

Dopaze account

The extension is free for all signed-in users. No paid plan required.

Signed-in account

Blocklist configured

Add at least one site under Settings → Blocking before installing.

Download the extension file

Click "Download Extension" above. You must be signed in to your Dopaze account to download.

TIP

You'll receive a .crx or .zip file. Keep it in an accessible location.

Open your browser extensions page

In Chrome, type chrome://extensions into the address bar and press Enter.

Works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers.

Enable Developer Mode

In the top-right corner of the extensions page, toggle "Developer mode" on.

TIP

Required for sideloading extensions outside the Chrome Web Store.

Load the extension

Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted extension folder, or drag the .crx file onto the extensions page.

TIP

If prompted, click "Add extension" to confirm.

Pin the extension

Click the puzzle icon in your browser toolbar, find Dopaze, and click the pin icon.

TIP

Keeping it pinned lets you see your session status at a glance.

Click the extension icon, then sign in with your Dopaze credentials.

This links your blocklist and session state to the extension.

Confirm sync

The extension popup will show your blocked site count and confirm it is connected.

TIP

If sync doesn't appear immediately, try signing out and back in on the web app.

Start your first protected session

Begin a focus session from anywhere in the app. Your browser will immediately enforce your blocklist.

TIP

Strict Mode sessions will additionally prevent bypassing the block until the session ends.

Having trouble?

If the extension fails to load, make sure Developer Mode is enabled and try using "Load unpacked" instead of drag‑and‑drop. If blocking isn't working, sign out and back in from the extension popup to re‑sync your session. For persistent issues, visit the Help Center.

Is the extension free?

Yes. The browser extension is included with every Dopaze account, free or Pro. You just need to be signed in to download and use it.

Why is the download button asking me to sign in?

The download is available to all signed-in Dopaze users. If you see a "Sign up" button, create a free account first. It only takes a moment.

Which browsers are supported?

The extension works on Chrome and all Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Firefox support is on the roadmap.

How do I know the extension is active?

The extension icon in your toolbar shows a green indicator when a session is active and blocking is enforced. Click it to see your current session status and blocked site count.

Why are sites not blocking during my session?

First, make sure you're signed in to the extension with the same account. Then verify your blocklist has sites added under Settings → Blocking. If the issue persists, try refreshing the affected tab.

Does it sync with my Dopaze account automatically?

Yes. The extension receives real-time updates whenever a session starts, pauses, or ends. Your blocklist is always in sync with what you've configured in your account.

Can I use it without an active focus session?

No. The extension only enforces blocking while a focus session is active. It is intentionally passive when no session is running, so your normal browsing is never affected.

Will it work across multiple devices at once?

Yes. Your blocklist and session state are tied to your account, not your device. Install the extension on any Chromium browser and it will reflect your active session automatically.
